Firefighters in Kharkiv, Ukraine have a little more protection thanks to donated gear from firefighters in Vermont.
About 1,800 lbs. of desperately needed fireproof helmets, boots, and other critical gear were delivered to Kharkiv. Volunteer fire departments in Vermont from Reading, West Windsor, West Weathersfield, Ascutney, Cavendish, and South Woodstock collected the items, Scouts for Ukraine provided the logistics and transportation, while local Plast troops in Kharkiv, Ukraine ensured that the delivery reached its final destination. This donated gear will help safeguard the brave firefighters on the Ukrainian front lines as they fight to preserve their cities and villages.

1,800 lbs of critical firefighting equipment have arrived in Ukraine! The Reading, VT Local 1640 Volunteer Fire and Rescue has generously donated fireproof suits, helmets, boots, and other equipment to their Ukrainian firefighter brothers and sisters. Plast USA provided the financial and logistical support to get the gear to the Ukrainian front lines. Putting out fires in a war zone is harrowing and dangerous, and Ukrainian firefighters are working tirelessly to reduce the impact of Russian attacks on their communities.
