On June 12, 2022 Plast Scouts around the United States joined together in a virtual vatra for an hour of song, greetings from noted individuals, and a review of Plast activities that supported Ukraine since the Russian invasion. The vatra was opened by rev. Borys Gudziak, Metropolitan Archbishop of the Philadelphia Archeparchy and a member of Plast’s fraternity “Order of the Crusaders”, and the program was interspersed by singing performances from various Plast branches. The highlight of the evening was an overview of “Scouts in Action”, doing everything from assembling Pocket First Aid Kits and attending rallies, to bike riding and holding concerts for the benefit of Ukraine. Towards the end of the vatra,
Andriy Kozak, Chairman of the Board of Plast USA, spoke some very moving and motivational words, honoring fallen Plast heroes. Andriy also announced the $500,000 Matching Challenge.
