Volunteers around the country assemble the lifesaving kits 

Plast scouts throughout the United States are rolling up their sleeves and doing their part to help the war effort in Ukraine. As the Russian invasion carries on, medical supplies continue to be scarce, which is why Plast branches throughout the country are assembling lifesaving Pocket First Aid Kits (PFAKs).  

These kits were originally designed by Dr. Dan Olesnicky, a Plast scout and trauma surgeon, based on his 20 years of experience training SWAT teams. Due to their simple, small, and lightweight design, these lifesaving kits are easily distributed to anywhere their need is most critical. 

Plast is not the only scouting organization banding together to assemble these kits – other organizations like the U.S. Boy Scouts and U.S. Girl Scouts are also participating in this initiative. “We are so touched by the outpouring of support we have received from the greater American scouting community. It is heartening to see the scout oath of helping others come to life,” said Natalia Tarasiuk, the organizer of this initiative. “We believe these kits are an easy way for everyone to be able to participate in Ukrainian relief efforts within their communities.” 

How to Help 

In order to reach their goal of 500,000 kits, Plast scouts continue to fundraise. Each PFAK costs about $5 per pack for all of the required supplies. Please donate to Scouts for Ukraine to help Ukrainian scouts achieve their targeted number of kits.  

PFAKs are easy to assemble almost anywhere – even from your own kitchen. You are invited to participate in this very important initiative to help save lives and raise awareness about the war in Ukraine.
